PLBW
Padlock Operated Locking Bolt
What We Do
Surite continues to supply reliable products designed to enhance security and safety in practical applications. For example, certain locking bolt designs allow the bolt to be secured in both the open and locked positions using the same padlock, providing flexible and practical use.

PLBW Padlock Operated Locking Bolt
The first product of this kind was made about 1985 to protect the shackle of padlocks employed to secure the locking bolt.
There have been a number of improvements over the years, including hot galvanising of the locking bolt and body.
- The current model PLBW has a 19mm stainless steel locking bolt assembly sliding in a hot galvanised housing, which may be welded directly to a steel gate or door.
- A unique feature of the PLBW is that a padlock used for locking the PLBW also serves as a “handle” to move the locking bolt to its extended position, then the padlock can be locked.
- When in its locked position the locking bolt extends about 60mm beyond the edge of a door or gate to lock it onto a door frame or gate post.
- And when unlocked the padlock is employed to withdraw the locking bolt to an unlocked position.
- There is no handle to be damaged and it ensures that the person(s) who unlock the PLBW will likely be always able to unlock the door or gate to which it is installed. For operational safety, the locking bolt can be locked in an open position.
- In the event that one of the keys is lost, an operator can remove the padlock and install a replacement with a minimum of delay. The weight of each PLBW is around 1Kg and it is not intended to be used on relatively light duty gates or doors.
